OFFENSIVE TECHNICAL PLAN

After implementing each technique separately, feel free to create different combination sequences that make sense. The front mount and the back control are the only positions in BJJ the competitor can stall and wait for time to expire. Vieira competitors must be proficient at arriving at the Mount and Back Control as final destination as main objective.

first progression

Single leg Takedown

IMPORTANT: After this takedown, direct the athlete to secure North-South as this command will prevent the opponent from recovering the guard.

Bodylock Takedown

Standing 2-on-1 Guard Pass

IMPORTANT: After opening the guard with this technique, direct the athlete to secure North-South as this command will prevent the opponent from recovering the guard.

Jawbreaker Half-guard pass

15-step Side Control drill

IMPORTANT: The side control at the 32 seconds mark in this video, as seen on this picture, is the LAPEL LEG CONTROL. This is our choice of side control from cross body. When passing the guard, the athlete must opt for North-South or Lapel Leg Control immediately!

Camouflage Mounting

Mount to Back Control with Bow & Arrow Choke

IMPORTANT: Students must be conditioned to submit from the back, after transitioning from the mount only! This is to ensure they get 8 points for this play.

Second progression

Closed guard: Shoulder sweep

Closed guard: Shoulder sweep

After securing mount, take the back and submit with bow & arrow choke.

Open guard: Shark sweep

Closed guard: Shoulder sweep

After the sweep, proceed immediately to North-South or Lapel Leg Control.

Kimura: 4 behavior responses

This attack should be attempted BEFORE the Shark sweep as the guard is closed at this point still.

Deep half-guard single leg sweep

After the sweep, proceed immediately to Lapel Leg Control.

Knee on belly

Double ankle standing sweep

Knee on belly can be followed by going to mount or simply going back to Lapel Leg Control to run time.

Double ankle standing sweep

Double ankle standing sweep

After the sweep, proceed to pass the guard with the Double Under Guard Pass. (Click to watch)

THIRD PROGRESSION

Back take from Sprawl

Double under pass to reverse mount

Double under pass to reverse mount

Strong sprawling mastery is required. Back take is followed by bow and arrow choke.

Double under pass to reverse mount

Double under pass to reverse mount

Double under pass to reverse mount

IMPORTANT: The reverse mount position is not considered mount (No 4 points), however, it is consider the control needed to pass the guard and obtain 3 points. The athlete is merely leaving the reverse mount to side control to have a better position to mount but the points would have been awarded within 3 seconds in reverse mount.

Back take from top half-guard

Double under pass to reverse mount

Back take from top half-guard

This is our strategic option to score 7 cumulative points all at once by passing the guard directly to back control, then rotating to front mount to score 4 more, totaling 11 points.
